Overview Donor Relations Director role at The Salvation Army USA Central Territory. The Salvation Army Midland Division has an immediate opening for a Donor Relations Director. This is a full-time position with salary based on education and experience. The role focuses on major gifts through ongoing relationship management, strategic communications, written plans, gift cultivation, and solicitation activity with an assigned caseload of qualified major gift donors (emphasis on gifts of $5,000 and higher). The incumbent will serve as the primary contact between TSA and an assigned portfolio to increase major gifts while retaining and strengthening existing giving.

Responsibilities

Manages a prospect portfolio of 150 or more qualified major donors and additional prospects to establish and maintain excellent donor relations.

Establishes, manages, and executes a portfolio communications plan with individual fundraising goals and strategies to steward, educate, cultivate, and solicit gifts from major donors each fiscal year, focusing on $5,000+ contributions.

Follows a donor-specific communication plan and leads in one-to-one solicitation, gift acknowledgement, and stewardship communications, traveling as necessary to meet activity and income goals.

Collabs with donor leadership volunteers to secure visits with donors in their networks as assigned.

Follows best practices in solicitation, acknowledgement, and stewardship to maintain excellent donor relations.

Prepares and provides written proposals to major gift prospects as needed with appropriate TSA staff or volunteers.

Works with prospect research manager to develop donor profiles and inform moves management strategies and planning conversations.

Utilizes events, site tours, briefings by TSA leaders, and other initiatives to engage donors and deepen their understanding of TSA’s impact; participates in these opportunities with donors when appropriate.

Maintains updated donor files, tracking spreadsheets, database reports, correspondence, and gift acknowledgements; fulfills monthly reporting requirements.

Meets regularly with supervisor and territorial gifts management to refine caseload plans, donor strategies, and to receive coaching.

Participates in professional development activities, training, conferences, and calls with other major gifts staff.

Collaborates with TSA fundraising and divisional staff to define and present TSA funding needs to donor prospects and optimize integrated donor communications strategies.

Supports organizational policies and strategies to increase major gifts revenue and program impact.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse individuals including executives, donors, volunteers, internal stakeholders, and TSA leadership.

Computer literacy with Windows, Office, email, and CRM/donor management software.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow ethical best practices.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Service-oriented and committed to delivering exceptional donor service and follow-through.

Team player able to collaborate with officers, staff, volunteers, and development colleagues to achieve goals.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Experience, Education And Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, marketing, business administration, or related fields; or equivalent experience.

Advanced degree and/or CFRE credentials preferred.

At least five years of nonprofit fundraising experience with a proven record in major gift solicitation.

Strong knowledge of strategy development and moves management systems.

Experience working with high-level volunteers, donors, and program staff on collaborative activities.

Experience working in a complex nonprofit with multiple departments and fundraising priorities.
