Vice President of Finance – BDC Strategy | Manhattan, NY A premier asset manager with a specialized BDC investment strategy is actively recruiting a Vice President of Finance to join its New York-based team. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in debt-focused financial environments — such as hedge funds, private equity, or public accounting — with strong knowledge of instruments like bank debt, bonds, PIK, and OID. Prior exposure to SEC filings, SOX compliance, and BDC structures is essential. Responsibilities

Review and reconcile 10-K and 10-Q filings, ensuring accuracy of financial statements and third-party administrator workpapers Lead the development and execution of SOX control frameworks in preparation for ICFR auditor evaluation Analyze and monitor complex investment products within the portfolio, focusing on valuation, exposure, and reporting Align fund accounting with administrator and middle-office teams; conduct qualifying asset testing Ensure proper NAV calculation, fee accruals, and fund accounting under a shadow environment using VPM Manage month-end close processes and maintain thorough accounting records Oversee capital activity tracking, including investor distributions Project and recalculate management and incentive fees Drive the audit and quarterly review process, acting as liaison between auditors and administrators Support senior leadership with internal reporting, benchmarking, and special initiatives Collaborate with tax and compliance teams to ensure regulatory distributions and asset coverage are met Prepare presentation materials for board meetings and executive updates Foster cross-functional relationships with internal and external partners including tax, legal, compliance, IR, valuation, and operations Qualifications

CPA designation or progress toward CPA strongly preferred 8–12 years of relevant experience Minimum of 3–4 years in public accounting; Big 4 background a plus Familiarity with SEC reporting, BDC structures, and SOX requirements Demonstrated experience handling debt instruments and Level 3 assets within financial services or audit settings Prior engagement with third-party administrators and financial systems Strong technical grasp of GAAP, Reg S-X, and investment company accounting rules Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills This is a hybrid position (three days onsite, two remote) offering a base salary up to $225,000, bonus, and comprehensive benefits.
