College of Nursing - Associate Dean, Research

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Nursing invites inquiries, nominations of, or applications for the position of Associate Dean for Research (ADR). The ADR leads and advances the CON research and scholarship portfolio and reports to the Dean. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide leadership in facilitating and strengthening CON research, scholarship, funding success, and productivity. Mentor faculty in developing original and translational federally or externally funded research and support training grants. Manage the daily operations of the CON Office of Research and Scholarship and supervise associated staff. Develop and promote policies and guidelines that support scholarship and scholarly recognition. Foster extramural funding and promote CON nationally and internationally through conferences and engagement with partners. Develop and execute plans to increase the CON research portfolio, including recruitment of nurse scientists and researchers. Develop short and long-range strategic research plans aligning with the institution. Advise the Dean on matters related to research and scholarly activity. Maintain an active externally funded research program as principal investigator. Advise and mentor PhD students. Contribute to scholarly content and training through classroom instruction, seminars, and workshops. Collaborate with colleagues across UTHSC and advocate for CON research with administration and clinical partners. Perform other duties as required by the Dean. Qualifications

Earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree (e.g., PhD, D.N.Sc., Dr.P.H., Sc.D., MD, D.N.P.) and eligible for appointment at Associate Professor or Full Professor with tenure in the CON. Experience and knowledge in nursing research. Vision for nursing and health sciences research and scholarship. Record of scholarship and an active program of clinically relevant research. Current or previous NIH R-level funding. Experience collaborating with nurses on funded research, pilot studies, training grants, and publications. Success mentoring faculty and students in grant writing, research, and scholarship. Willingness to support the research and scholarship of others. Understanding of funding mechanisms across federal, state, foundations, industry, and community partners. Ability to develop and streamline grant processes within the CON. Support for practice-focused research in nursing science and health care outcomes. Ability to foster collaborative research initiatives, including leveraging the CON's D.N.P. program.
