Position Summary Our Online campus has an opening for a Program Faculty member in the Forensic program. Over the course of the six term academic year, faculty members may be responsible for teaching, student advisement, chairing dissertations, research/scholarship, professional service to the School and community, and administration. While program faculty members are fundamentally responsible for teaching in accordance with TCS's workload policy, adjustments to an individual's teaching load may be made by the Department Chair based on program needs first and individual talents and abilities second. Program Faculty members are recommended to the Vice President of Academic Affairs for hire by the Department Chair. Principle Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To Teaching (48%) Teach 18 credit hours over the course of six online terms Hold virtual office hours on a weekly basis Remain current in field of study/teaching expertise and update course content to reflect knowledge updates Prepare course syllabus and plans in accord with Department requirements Select textbooks and teaching aids as required Classroom instruction including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, or other appropriate modes of education delivery in a higher education setting Serve as course lead on specific courses, which includes reviewing course shells, selecting teaching materials, and updating curriculum as needed Develop, and regularly update, a system for ongoing evaluation of teaching and student learning All Online Faculty Members At The Chicago School Are Expected To Be Available (online) And Responsive To Students Five Out Of Seven Days During The Course Of The Week. This availability includes: Active participation in the discussion forum Posting course-related announcements Timely grading of assignments and providing quality feedback Holding virtual office hours Adhere to duties during a 7-week term, including posting a welcome message, creating a video welcome message on Canvas, holding one voluntary conference call or synchronous chat, responding to initial posts, grading quizzes and assignments with defined timelines, and responding to all student emails within 24 hours Issuing final grade on time (by Tuesday midnight after Week 7 ends) Advising (20%) Maintain an advisee load according to Department needs Provide mentorship on academic, curricular, and career development matters Mentor advisees in preparing vitae and training application materials, and write recommendation letters Assist the Department Chair in documenting student progress, including crafting Academic Development Plans as needed Present progress of advisees at semester Student Review meetings and communicate Faculty concerns Scholarship (20% Flex) Scholarship may include qualitative/quantitative research, presentations at professional conferences, scholarship-based community service, etc. Professional Service (20% Flex) Maintain scholarly activities that further the practice of professional psychology Foster education of, and interest in, student service in the community Engage in community service Service to Institution (12%) Participate in Departmental functions, including analysis of student progress, faculty searches, admissions activities, curriculum development, and mentoring of new faculty Attend faculty meetings and participate in the Faculty Assembly Serve on department and/or institutional committees as agreed with the Department Chair Position Qualifications Doctoral degree in related discipline: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling, Clinical, or Forensic Psychology Licensed as a psychologist in at least one U.S. state Strong knowledge base in clinical work, assessment, and intervention Exemplary record of professional experience in clinical practice and/or a forensic setting Online teaching experience of at least 5 years preferred Record of scholarship and/or community service preferred Ability to behave in a collegial and professional manner with all members of the TCS community Ability to adhere to the highest professional conduct and ethical standards Ability to engage in responsibilities with the promotion of TCS mission and reputation in mind at all times Required Application Documents Cover Letter with a detailed explanation of fit for the position CV Application To apply, please complete this application and include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and teaching evaluations (if available).
