This position exists to drive the expansion of our Public Sector Finance business by strategically identifying and pursuing municipal lending opportunities with Bank customers and prospects. The BDO plays a pivotal role in establishing & nurturing relationships with potential borrowers, their decision makers and key influencers.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify target municipalities, regions, and sectors for business development.
Stay informed about municipal lending regulations, funding options, and industry trends. Share this knowledge internally and externally to position Webster as a trusted expert.
Demonstrate knowledge of Webster products, services, and capabilities and collaborate with other Bank colleagues to identify cross-selling opportunities and provide comprehensive financial solutions to municipal clients.
Prepare and present compelling proposals that address the specific needs of municipalities, showcasing Webster’s capabilities and competitive advantages.
Maintain a robust deal pipeline, tracking leads, opportunities, and client interactions. Regularly update management on the status of business development activities.
Lead negotiations with clients and their deal teams, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements and closing deals in a timely manner.
Ensure all business development activities adhere to regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
Generate regular reports on business development activities, key performance indicators, and market trends.
Represent Webster in the local community.
Education, Experience & Skill:
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or related field required; advanced degree a plus.
Strong understanding of municipal finance, regulations and economic trends.
5-7 years of proven business development experience, preferably in municipal lending or related financial services.
Results-oriented with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding business development targets in municipal lending and relationship building.
Excellent interpersonal, team building, and communication skills.
The estimated salary range for this position is $200,000 USD to $220,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
