Okta’s Technology, Data, & Intelligence organization is on a mission to simplify and secure internal operations through automation, analysis, and scale. Our Productivity Engineering team develops internal tooling, infrastructure and services that empower Okta employees to work as effectively as possible. We work across engineering, data science, security, and internal business teams to deliver automation-powered services that integrate with a wide array of SAAS apps and internally developed infrastructure. A growing focus is AI agentic platforms, workflow orchestration, and data analytic dashboarding. The Staff Software Engineer Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Business Technology Sales & Partners, this role will help scale our business solutions with a focus on security, enabling Okta to be more efficient, scalable, and reliable. You will design and develop customizations, extensions, configurations, and integrations to meet the company’s strategic business objectives. You will collaborate with Engineering Managers, business stakeholders, Product Owners, Program analysts, and engineers on design, development, deployment and support. A commitment to collaborative problem-solving and delivering high-quality solutions is essential. What You’ll Be Doing
Operate with a high degree of autonomy, technical leadership, and project ownership. Architectural Ownership and Design
You will translate business needs into well-architected solutions and design solid, scalable, and secure architectures, going beyond simple implementation. Project and Delivery Leadership
Act as a Team Lead, owning deliverables from discovery to deployment and driving end-to-end lifecycle of projects. Mentorship and Technical Bar-Setting
Mentor other engineers and help set high coding standards to elevate the team’s capabilities. Cross-Functional Influence
Collaborate with Engineering Managers, business stakeholders, and Product Owners; articulate benefits and risks of solutions and align with program goals. Drive technical initiatives across BT teams and contribute to architectural standards. Future-Forward Technical Skills
We are AI First and AI native. Build agents using Agentforce, leverage open source libraries to build agents, and use AI workflow tools. Proficiency with Github Copilot or AI workflow orchestration tools is valued. Strategic Influence on Technology Roadmap
Identify opportunities and influence the future technical and business roadmap, including long-term architectural improvements. Operating in Ambiguity
Distill broad, ambiguous problems into concrete, solvable technical projects. What You’ll Bring To The Role
4+ years of software development experience with Java, Python, or equivalent 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce development with Apex, Process Automation, and LWC Experience in architecture, design and implementation of high-complexity projects for Sales Cloud, CPQ, Service Cloud Console; secure solutions leveraging native Salesforce practices Experience with CI/CD, SfDx, Jenkins or equivalent Salary and Benefits
Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California. The actual base salary will depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending accounts, and paid leave. Total Rewards details: https://rewards.okta.com/us. The annual base salary range for this position in the San Francisco Bay area is: $170,000—$254,000 USD.
