As a Software Engineer working on the Lab Auto team, you’ll design and build the next generation of data analysis experiences for scientists within Benchling. Your work will enable scientists to analyze and visualize their data effectively and make informed decisions with ease. Working on a wide range of projects, you\'ll collaborate with teams across the company to build data analysis features that integrate seamlessly with the rest of Benchling. This role has an opportunity to shape Benchling’s data analysis experience and platform for years to come while unlocking continued growth in our business with new product features that are highly desired by customers. RESPONSIBILITIES
Own projects end-to-end, from initial design, to prototype, to large-scale rollout. Design and architect resilient APIs, user interfaces, services, and frameworks of our analysis platform. Work hand-in-hand with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to understand needs and shape them into scalable software solutions. Ensure high quality and performance of our systems through comprehensive testing, monitoring, and optimization. Drive the evolution of our product, platform, and team. As a member of the engineering team, you will be an integral part of how we mature our tooling, engineering processes, and hiring. You have 0-1 years of experience in a full-time software engineer position or are currently enrolled in a BS/MS/PhD degree in computer science and/or a STEM field with a graduation date of June 2025 - August 2025 and can start by September 2025. A prior software engineering internship Strong abilities in problem solving and iterating on feedback. A desire to have ownership over building key pieces of product and/or platform. Build software with a product-first approach. You ship code quickly and care about the real world impact of your code. HOW WE WORK
Flexible Hybrid Work: We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes in-office collaboration. Employees are expected to be on-site 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). SALARY RANGE
Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate\'s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is $129,938 to $158,813. Total Compensation includes a broad range of medical, dental, and vision plans for employees and their dependents, fertility healthcare and family-forming benefits, four months of fully paid parental leave, 401(k) + Employer Match, commuter benefits for in-office employees and a home office setup stipend for remote employees, mental health benefits, a monthly wellness stipend, learning and development stipend, generous and flexible vacation, company-wide winter holiday shutdown, and sabbaticals for 5-year and 10-year anniversaries.
