Knowledge Road is seeking a part-time Mental Health Counselor to join our team and provide essential psychological services to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With an unprecedented need for mental health support in schools and a critical shortage of qualified professionals, your expertise is urgently needed to help students navigate complex emotional and behavioral challenges. As a Mental Health Counselor with Knowledge Road, you will have the autonomy to deliver individualized interventions, working collaboratively with school teams and families to support student mental health and academic achievement.

Responsibilities

Provide direct, high-quality individual and group counseling services to students, as mandated by their Individualized Education Services Programs/Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP).

Address a comprehensive range of social, emotional, and behavioral concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and complex psychological conditions.

Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to inform treatment planning and educational recommendations.

Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans utilizing various therapeutic modalities tailored to the unique developmental and cultural needs of each student.

Collaborate closely with parents, teachers, school administrators, and other mental health professionals to create a holistic and supportive learning environment.

Maintain meticulous and timely documentation of all services, progress, and outcomes in compliance with DOE regulations, HIPAA requirements, and Knowledge Road standards.

Actively participate in IESP/IEP meetings, offering expert psychological insights and recommendations to guide student progress and educational planning.

Qualifications

Must Have:

NYS license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience providing psychological services to children and adolescents.

Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.

NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to obtain prior to start.

Preferred:

Experience in a school-based setting or educational environment.

Specialized training in child and adolescent therapy modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, play therapy, family therapy).

Experience with psychological assessment and testing.

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages prevalent in Manhattan schools.

Current Openings We are currently hiring for part-time Mental Health Counselor positions in Brooklyn.

Schedule & Location This is a part-time, school-day position with a schedule that follows the NYC DOE calendar. You will be providing services on-site at one or more schools in Brooklyn, with specific assignments based on student needs. Hours/week are driven by IESP/IEP mandates; caseload may vary by assignment. Typically ~5-15 hours/week in school-day blocks.

Compensation $75/hr (1099).
