Responsibilities
Lead for other counselors and manage an individual caseload. Participate in facility committees and perform management-related duties as specified by the Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Director. Assist Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Director in problem solving, conflict resolution, readiness for state, CARF visits, and other assigned areas. Perform onsite duties (not remote). Ensure completion of patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other essential documentation in accordance with federal/state standards and agency policies. Provide patients with orientation to program objectives, phase system requirements, rules and regulations, sanctions, hours of service, patient rights, and related information. Assess and place each patient according to treatment phases per Federal/State standards and agency policies. Ensure clinical documentation and patient charts are updated per policies. Counsel patients in crisis situations and assist with resources and coping strategies. Counsel patients regarding noncompliance to increase awareness of consequences. Arrange referrals to community resources when appropriate. Participate in case conferences and case reviews per policies. Review counselor documentation and sign off as directed by Supervisors/Director. Assist with the development of substance use services and participate in treatment team meetings and grievance hearings as needed. Conduct/assist with weekly staff meetings and ongoing review of counselors’ case files for compliance with Federal, State, and agency requirements. Assist with annual performance reviews and in-state/CARF inspections as needed. Provide in-service training to clinical teammates on a scheduled basis. Monitor clinical records for quality and compliance; conduct mock inspections. Perform intakes on new patients and develop preliminary and comprehensive treatment plans. Provide guidance to counselors in managing difficult or complex patients. Maintain accurate case files for patients and team caseloads per requirements. Oversee substance use counseling case assignments and discharges. Attend team meetings and complete required training courses. Other duties as assigned. Benefits

A master’s degree or above from an accredited college with a major in medicine, chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and 2 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent. OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and 3 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person. OR an associate degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and 4 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person. Full certification as an addiction counselor by a statewide certification body which is a member of a national certification body or certification by another state government’s substance use counseling certification board and 3 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person. The individual shall also complete a Department-approved core curriculum training course including a component on clinical supervision skills. Must have a clinical license through the Department of State or be certified as a CCS through PCB. Preferred Demonstrated leadership qualities amongst the counseling team.
