What You Will Do
Identify potential replacement hardware candidates, conduct trade studies with potential devices, and choose the device that best meets the requirements
Perform preliminary and detailed design activities
Conduct testing activities in the lab in support of Engineering Change Proposals. Testing includes device-level bench testing as well as integration testing in the system as a whole
Interface with other disciplines (Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain) in support of product development
Troubleshoot lab and customer networks to resolve hardware, firmware, protocol, and interoperability issues for both internal and external customers
Maintain and update scripting tool used to generate switch and router configuration files
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Experience with different network layers, firmware levels, protocols, dynamic and static unicast routing, dynamic and static multicast routing, signal strength and cabling best practices, timing specifications and other network related characteristics to provide highly reliable network configurations
Demonstrated knowledge and practice developing and implementing network technology
Participation as a team member taking a system design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and developing a complete solution and then verifying the design via integration and test activities
System level hardware integration and troubleshooting skills
Experience with network troubleshooting tools and techniques such as Port Mirroring, Wireshark, TCPDump, and iPerf
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with management and team members from various experience levels

Qualifications We Prefer
Current or in-progress computing/networking certification(s) (e.g. CCNA, AWS, CISSP)
Experience with ATC or weather system hardware
Experience with new and emerging technologies
Experience working with Ixia or similar network test equipment
Experience with Linux and shell scripting, such as Python and Perl
Experience working with networks composed of both new and legacy equipment from multiple vendors
