Demonstrate clinical competence in the field of psychiatry that is based on best evidenced practice, including diagnosis and treatment modalities. Provide clinical supervision to residents, Advanced Practice Nurse, and Physician Assistant. Coordinate/assist with transfer to other units in the hospital, other health care agencies, or other VA or community hospitals. Assist with residency program, and provide service line orientation to residents and new staff. Be knowledgeable about, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to Public Health and Infection Control. Participate in Performance Improvement activities to improve organizational performance using performance reports and benchmark data. Assist in the implementation of VISN-wide service line policies, procedures, performance goals, strategic plans, and initiatives to address barriers in implementation. Provide courteous and dignified care to all customers (internal and external) with a commitment to improving customer service skills through educational opportunities. Provide appropriate medical care, treatment modalities and discharge plans for various age-related groups. Assist with planning and development of RFPs, per Central Office and VISN initiatives. Assist with other functions and duties as assigned by the Medical Director of the Mental Health Service Line. Comply with all by-laws set by the Medical Director of the Mental Health Service Line. Be available for scheduled on-call duties assigned by the Medical Director of the Mental Health Service Line. Education and Benefits
Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) : Eligible for EDRP; program details include potential for loan repayment up to $200,000 and eligibility period of one to five years, determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. You must submit the EDRP application within four months of appointment. Other benefits include: Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, potential 5-day CME absence) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage Work Schedule: 8:00am – 4:30pm; interview may provide additional details Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at time of initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy. Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited school as recognized by VA. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Completion of residency approved by VA in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA physicians involved in academic training may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies include those by ACGME or AOA, or equivalent training with verified experience. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Possibility of serving a probationary period. Subject to background/security investigation. Pre-employment onboarding and acceptable identification per I-9 requirements; REAL ID compliance may apply after May 7, 2025. Pre-employment physical examination may be required. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for VA health care personnel. Note:
