Sr Manager, Global Tax Controversy at McDonald’s. Reporting directly to the Director, Global Tax Controversy, McDonald’s is looking for a Sr. Manager of Global Tax Controversy to manage and coordinate the US federal and international income tax aspects of IRS audits as well as other major foreign tax audits. The Sr. Manager will help manage the day-to-day relationship with the IRS and contribute to the development of audit strategies, develop efficiencies in audit timelines/closures, gather and review audit-ready documentation, and draft responses to information requests from multiple tax authorities. The role collaborates with all functions in tax to ensure tax accounting and controversy aspects are documented, coordinates with International Tax Operations, participates in functional interviews, and may assist with amended US tax return filings and with US tax aspects related to global audits including Foreign Tax Credits and coordination on US Competent Authority matters. Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day aspects of US federal and international income tax aspects of IRS audits and other major foreign tax audits Influence and negotiate with tax authorities worldwide with support from the Director of Global Tax Controversy and the Sr. Director of Tax Strategy Set controversy strategy, research tax matters, and draft technical memoranda to support tax return positions (IR Information Document Requests, Notices of Proposed Adjustments, Protests of Proposed Examination Changes, etc.) Lead cross-functional teams to build timelines for IRS deliverables and ensure timely submission of information to IRS Strategize with advisors on settlement strategies, appeals processes, and final results Oversee amended US income tax return compliance resulting from audit adjustments, tracking amended returns and filings, and coordinating with McDonald’s US federal/state tax teams and International Tax Operations on Foreign Tax Credit carryback/carryforward Advise on ASC 740 aspects of relevant audits and manage related dispute resolution activities, including US foreign tax credits and Competent Authority matters Qualifications
Recommended 6+ years working in US federal and international taxation with significant tax controversy experience Cross-border tax technical experience (GILTI, FDII, Subpart F, FTCs) is important Broad US tax technical knowledge for large multinational taxpayers Strong project management skills; ability to work independently Self-motivated with ability to collaborate across teams Agility to adapt to changing priorities and balance multiple priorities Exceptional verbal communication and advocacy skills; strong written and oral communication Excellent tax research skills Professional demeanor; Bachelor’s Degree required; JD/LLM preferred Compensation & Benefits
Benefits Eligible: Yes Salary Range: The expected salary range for this role is $149,260.00 - $190,310.00 per year. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. We may consider additional factors in determining pay. Bonus eligible: This position is eligible for a bonus, calculated based on individual and company performance.
