Overview

The Director of New Product Development (NPD) will lead the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of new products from concept through commercialization. This senior-level role requires a unique combination of creative vision, technical acumen, leadership, and project management skills. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the architectural lighting industry and a proven track record of bringing successful products to market in a fast-paced, design-driven environment. This role requires 30%-40% travel to US manufacturing sites. Key Responsibilities

Lead the End-to-End Product Design and Engineering Process: manage multiple new product development programs in parallel from scope approval to final production within approved project timelines, using a New Product Development tollgate process. Cross-Functional Leadership: coordinate cross-functional teams including industrial design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure timely and cost-efficient product launches. Innovation & Market Differentiation: identify opportunities for innovation in lighting design, materials, controls, and sustainability to keep the company at the forefront of the architectural lighting industry. Vendor & Partner Collaboration: work with external partners, designers, and component suppliers to develop and refine product concepts and specifications. Quality & Compliance: ensure all products meet performance, aesthetic, regulatory, and safety standards. Team Development: build and mentor a high-performing product development team to support long-term innovation and growth goals. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field (Master’s preferred) 10+ years of experience in new product development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role Strong background in architectural lighting, high-end consumer products, or closely related design/manufacturing industries Deep understanding of product development lifecycles, design for manufacturing (DFM), and engineering best practices Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex project portfolios Passion for design excellence and an eye for detail Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Jira, etc.) Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $140,000.00 – $185,000.00 Seniority level: Director Employment type: Full-time
