Overview
Manager, Shipping and Receiving Logistics (Hybrid: 4 days per week in San Francisco office). Base pay range: $68,425.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role. This role oversees, directs, and manages all aspects of the operations for the Headquarters mailroom, including handling key parcel carrier accounts, optimizing logistics workflows, and coordinating between physical and digital mail processes. It ensures efficient processing, tracking, and delivery of inbound and outbound shipments, maintains records and inventory, and allocates/ reconciles parcel billing to the correct cost centers or departments. Responsibilities
Develop and implement efficient shipping and receiving procedures and protocols. Manage the daily operations of the Headquarters mailroom, including processing of all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and freight. Administer and oversee all corporate shipping accounts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and policy adherence. Coordinate with various departments to facilitate timely and accurate delivery of materials. Track shipments and maintain accurate records of all transactions. Manage inventory of shipping supplies and equipment. Resolve shipping and receiving discrepancies or issues promptly and effectively. Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards. Supervise, train, and mentor mailroom staff, providing guidance and support as needed. Prepare comprehensive reports on shipping and receiving activities as required. Track and allocate monthly UPS billings by reference numbers and provide detailed cost breakdowns to accounting. Manage corporate UPS account users, including adding/removing profiles as required. Develop and launch global shipping programs, including SOPs for mail services. Print incoming documents, pack shipments, and create shipping labels. Champion and embody Samsara’s cultural principles as the company scales globally and across offices. Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team. Minimum requirements
5+ years of experience in shipping/receiving logistics or related field. Familiarity with shipping dangerous goods and hazardous materials (HAZMAT). Comprehensive knowledge of shipping and logistics processes and regulations. Excellent organizational, project management, and time-management abilities. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift and move heavy packages and materials. Familiarity with shipping software (UPS CampusShip, FedEx Ship Manager), envoy, financial tools, and ERP systems. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and onsite Monday-Friday in the San Francisco Office. Ideal candidate
Proven ability to manage and supervise a team effectively. Understanding of air parcel shipment networks. Thorough knowledge of preparing commercial invoices across major parcel systems. Experience designing/developing a shipping and receiving operations program from the ground up. Compensation and Benefits
Samsara’s compensation philosophy: base salary + bonus/variable + RSUs for eligible roles. A new hire RSU may be awarded at hire, with potential annual RSU refresh grants. The base salary range for full-time is $68,425—$115,000 USD and may vary by city, knowledge, skills, and experience.
