Join to apply for the Business Litigation Section Analyst role at California Department of Justice. Responsibilities
Defend state agencies in civil litigation in state and federal trial courts, including federal bankruptcy court, and on appeal. Work on complex litigation and trials, improving operational efficiency, performance, and litigation experience by creating case-specific systems for indexing and managing discovery and case documents for retrieval and analysis, calendaring, and training attorneys and staff. Provide support to attorneys by interviewing witnesses, researching, drafting discovery requests and responses, drafting correspondence, reviewing documents for privilege, preparing production logs, assisting in depositions, conducting legal research, organizing documents for hearings and trials, and communicating with court personnel. Prepare draft legal pleadings, motions, orders, stipulations, and cost bills; proofread for proper citation form. Take administrative lead in cases, solicit updates, assist with contracting, prepare fiscal monitoring projections, analyze expenditures, justify purchases and travel requests, and mandated reports. Work collaboratively with a range of offices and outside organizations; be analytical, a good writer, and proactive in offering assistance. Some travel may be required. Position Details
