A new position has been posted for a Smart Grid Solution Architect. The role focuses on enhancing Energy Company’s Smart Grid ecosystem to enable next-generation operational capabilities around Outage Management, Advanced Applications, Distribution Automation, Smart Devices and Application & Infrastructure while maintaining awareness of Cyber Security concerns and best practices. This role is instrumental within ADI to deliver strategic projects supporting the next-generation Grid. Position Concept:

The Smart Grid Solutions Architect will provide innovative design suggestions to help build Energy Company’s Smart Grid ecosystem, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. Collaborates with Grid Transformation teams in a fast-paced, collaborative, and agile environment. Serves as a key asset across organizational and digital technology businesses to guide the integration of Transmission and Distribution applications into the digital landscape and to design an architecture that meets the needs of the Energy Company and supports a secure digital energy future.

Duties and Responsibilities

Contribute to the digital transformation of Transmission and Distribution by understanding Energy utility operations, business processes, and systems (EMS, ADMS, GIS, OMS, NERC, CIP, SCADA).

Collaborate with Transmission, Distribution, and Asset Management teams to provide architectural solutions that are flexible, scalable, and agile, and lead cross-organization teams as needed in an agile environment.

Lead technical design workshops, assessments, and planning sessions; review functional requirements and ensure documented requirements are delivered with excellence.

Lead the development of architectural solutions to harness advanced data technology, data management, and analytical tools to improve business performance.

Develop organizational-level multi-year Smart Grid strategies to assist with technology change and budgetary planning.

Assist in evaluating new Smart Grid solutions for integration into the technology stack.

Contribute to the development, maintenance, implementation, and reinforcement of the future-state Grid operating model and the maturation of the Digital organization.

Assist Electric Delivery Organization in architecting OT solutions to meet requirements while ensuring adherence to architecture standards; create and maintain solution architecture artifacts.

Proactively communicate insights to cross-functional team members and management.

Act as a resource for the Digital Organization in the area of Operational Technology and ensure the long-term integrity of Energy Company’s technology ecosystem.

Relationships Key Internal: Stakeholders of the smart grid ecosystem and Electric Delivery Leadership.

Key External: Consultants (System Integrators, Offshore Teams), Contractors, Business Unit Leadership, Vendors.

Supervision Direct Supervision: May supervise smart grid support resources.

Indirect Supervision: Contract resources; smart grid support resources, contractor, security, compliance, database administration. May serve as a backup to the Manager.

Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or related disciplines.

Preferred: Advanced degree in engineering, computer sciences, information systems, or related disciplines.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred: Professional certifications related to the duties of this position.

Experience Required: 10 years of experience in IT/OT architecture and systems engineering in the utility industry, including EMS, ADMS, GIS, OMS, NERC, CIP, SCADA, and IoT. Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL, PL/SQL, HANA and/or other RDBMS; Windows, Linux, and other server environments. Experience with service-oriented architectures, integration platforms, and cloud hybrid configurations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Understanding of utility industry trends; ability to translate functional requirements into technical configurations; basic electrical engineering concepts; knowledge of Cloud technology; strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to present technical ideas to diverse audiences.

Work Conditions This position primarily works in an office environment. Occasionally required to work in an industrial environment. Some travel within Energy Company’s Electric Service Area and to industry tradeshows/conferences is required.
