role at Kaiser Permanente. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing disease and injuries. Operates radiographic equipment to produce radiographic images of the body and applies safe, efficient processes to ensure high-quality patient care. Responsibilities

Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures. Explain procedures to patients with tact and courtesy to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation. Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures. Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views as requested by the physician. Determine exposure factors based on height, weight, body area, and required penetration. Move imaging equipment into position and operate controls to produce images with proper detail, density, and accuracy. Operate mobile radiologic equipment in the operating room, emergency room, or at patients bedside. Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians who have a valid CA DHS RHB Supervisor Operator Permit for Fluoroscopy in fluoroscopic and special X-ray examinations. Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician; process images and verify proper identification and quality control. Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and arrange for repairs of radiologic equipment as needed. Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff. Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed. Orient new staff and train students. Performs other related duties as necessary. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California) Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California) Basic Life Support Additional Requirements

California Mammography Certificate (when required for the position). Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by the employer. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment. Refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement. Radiologic Technologist Career Ladder: Venipuncture certification requirements depend on modality and dates of work. The employer will provide educational opportunities to pass the California permit test at the Technologist’s request. Preferred Qualifications
