Research Specialist A

Job Description Summary

We seek a Research Specialist A to join our research group to help study novel genome editing technologies. The role focuses on the expression and purification of proteins, including CRISPR-Cas variants and genome editors where CRISPR-Cas proteins are linked to various DNA-modifying enzymes. The Research Specialist will be part of the Kohli lab, collaborating with the lab of Junwei Shi. Hands-on responsibilities may include protein expression/purification, molecular biology techniques, and biochemical assays for characterization of purified proteins. Ideal candidates will have technical skills in executing experiments, be well-organized with strong attention to detail, communicate effectively, and work well as part of a team.

Job Responsibilities

Writing, editing, reviewing of written documents for publications and grants Assisting with other lab members' experiments Lab and technical equipment maintenance Coordination with collaborators Training of others on established methods Recording of data and participation/presentation in weekly meetings Optimization of experimental protocols Other duties as assigned CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level.
