Apply skills as a seasoned data/information management professional to resolve complex issues and support data collection, curation, and dissemination for CAIDA and related projects. Assist CAIDA's Systems Administrator with configuration and remote maintenance of measurement systems, maintain infrastructure and data security, and support a virtualized cloud research computing environment. Maintain passive monitoring platforms to capture two-way passive traces data; manage data anonymization, post-processing, curation, and sharing protocols; support time-series databases for passive traces and unsolicited traffic data. Support users running vetted measurements experiments on CAIDA infrastructure (e.g., ITDK, Ark, BGPStream). Collaborate with external collaborators, researchers, researchers’ programmers, visiting researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows; assist in publications and research as applicable. Prepare data management and cyberinfrastructure tooling as part of the Center for Applied Internet Data Analysis (CAIDA) lab activities. Refer to SDSC and CAIDA information for specific program objectives and workflows. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Familiarity with data model patterns in one or more common business or academic domains; ability to read and interpret scientific papers to understand data use cases and advise end users. Ability to represent information in abstract models; experience designing and generating reports using graphing/visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, Python visualization libraries) and spreadsheets/pivot tables. Experience with UNIX operating systems and shell scripting (Ubuntu preferred). Experience in scripting languages (Perl, Python, GOlang) to process/extract data; familiarity with JavaScript or JS libraries for web authoring. Thorough knowledge of data management systems, practices, and standards; ability to apply advanced computer technology to data modeling, analysis, storage management, and related functions. Pay Scale: $88,000 - $106,400 per year (consultant range may vary); Annual Full Pay Range: $88,000 - $161,600 (prorated if appointment is less than 100%). Hourly equivalent: $42.15 - $77.39. The payoff range may be broader due to internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements. Vaccination policy compliance may apply where required.
