StaffDesign Engineer - Propulsion . This role will conduct design, analysis, test, and integration of propulsion systems on Electra's 9-passenger hybrid electric eSTOL (electric short takeoff and landing) aircraft. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D design, analysis, and aircraft integration within a fast-paced, innovative environment. Electra's mission is to develop Ultra Short aircraft, built for Direct Aviation. We are redefining connectivity and pioneering direct aviation without airports, emissions, or noise. Headquartered in Northern Virginia, we aim to build a team of talented people who want to do meaningful work. Location: Headquarters in Manassas, VA (4-5 days in the office, with some virtual work allowed). Responsibilities

Complete designs for mechanical integration of propulsion systems utilizing NX CAD modeling and analysis tools Collaborate with suppliers to mechanically integrate components into the airframe Manage physical interfaces between propulsion components and the airframe Perform trade studies on alternative designs to meet requirements and objective functions Model, analyze, and simulate (e.g., static and dynamic stress analysis) to verify propulsion components meet performance and safety requirements Prepare and present at gated design reviews to demonstrate design adequacy Communicate propulsion integration design, requirements, and performance among the design team, management, customer, subcontractors, and vendors Required Education and Experience

Minimum of 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering on air vehicles with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or related STEM discipline) Required Skills

Experience in aerospace component design Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, composite lamination, etc.) Strong use of engineering first principles Ability to independently meet and lead the areas described by the responsibilities Excellent organization and communication skills Other duties as assigned Desired Qualifications

Experience with mechanical system design and integration for certification to Part 23 or Part 25 standards Knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), certification procedures (especially Part 23), and relevant industry standards Experience in Siemens NX CAD Software and Teamcenter PLM Software Competency in engineering analysis, including structural, thermal, multi-body dynamics, and electrical US Person (or Green Card) Location

Headquarters in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration this position is 4-5 days in the office, with some virtual work allowed Salary

Electra's salary range for this position is: $90,000.00 - 130,000.00. Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level across locations and projects and do not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on factors including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, education, role, location, and project. Compensation and Benefits

Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment with required safety precautions. Some physical effort may be required to handle light materials, prototypes, and equipment.
