Position Summary This position will perform dental-related services in a corrections environment at the Winnebago County Justice Center. The College of Medicine provides a full spectrum of health care services in this facility, including dental services. Correctional dentistry is a unique, challenging, and exciting opportunity for dentists because it allows you to provide patient care without the interference and barriers associated with a private practice. Duties & Responsibilities
Examine patients to determine nature of condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic tools / procedures. Fill cavities and fix or remove damaged teeth, using rotary, hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical implements. Administer or prescribe medications to decrease pain and improve patient health. Interact with patients and instruct them on proper oral care. Measure and fit patients for dental appliances. Refer patients to specialist as needed. Perform other related duties and / or projects as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Qualifications
