This position requires good management skills, tact, sensitivity and professionalism due to constant interaction with residents and families.
Responsibilities
Develop approaches/interventions to meet the psychosocial needs of residents
Establish rapport with residents and their families
Develop, schedule and run recreation programming for residents
Demonstrate knowledge and experience with residents with appropriate therapeutic/behavioral interventions
Must be able to manage and work with a team to include but not limited to hiring, training, scheduling, etc.
Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect
Must have a positive attitude, enthusiasm, creativity, patience, and energy
Will be required to complete assessments and care plans regularly
Qualifications
2 years Long-Term Care experience preferred
CTRS, MEPAP-1, OR ADC certified preferred
The activities program must be directed by a qualified professional who is a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who— (i) Is licensed or registered, if applicable, by the state of Ohio; and is: (A) Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or (B) Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program; or (C) Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or (D) Has completed a training course approved by the State.
Facility will provide certification for the right individual if not already licensed or certified per standards above.
Familiar with long-term care regulations and survey process is a plus
Be able to facilitate group programs independently
Positive attitude and energy displaying a "can do" mentality
Strong communication, interpersonal and written/reading and computer skills a must
Valid driver's license to assist with transporting residents for outtings away from facility
