The Problem Discovery & Definition course is seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) for Fall 2025 Mini 2 semester. Prior students of this course are preferred, but candidates with recent industry experience in software development and project management (minimum 4 years) will be considered. This is an hourly paid position through CMU. Current students and alumni are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
Assist the instructor in providing an effective learning experience for students enrolled in the course.
Attend all class meetings for one section each week, for the full duration of the semester.
Manage course activity online in Canvas, including supervising student submissions and ensuring structure, formatting, and best practices are followed in submitted deliverables.
Review student drafts and final assignments, providing actionable, constructive feedback, notes, scores, and corrections as appropriate.
Hold office hours for 90 minutes per week to assist students as needed.
Clarify instructions for assignments to students via office hours, email, or Canvas discussion forums.
Meet with students and teams, as requested by the instructor, to provide additional explanation and guidance on the assigned work.
Desired qualities
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with an interest in a reflective team process
Familiarity with Google Suite tools
Eye for detail and respectful punctuality
Interest in teaching
Qualifications
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
