Overview Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center of Hawaii (VERC)

is looking for an additional Ophthalmologist to join our growing team. VERC is a 24-hour veterinary emergency and specialty hospital, the first of its kind in Hawaii. Our board-certified specialists and emergency professionals provide a collaborative approach to veterinary medicine with a 17,250 square foot facility and advanced diagnostic equipment, including ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, 128-slice CT, an in-house MRI, fluoroscopy, and an oncology suite aligned with USP-800 standards. Our staff includes specialists in critical care, internal medicine, neurology, surgery, oncology, radiology, physical rehabilitation, and experienced emergency veterinarians and technicians.

Responsibilities The successful candidate for the position of Ophthalmologist will collaborate with our team to provide high-quality ophthalmic care for patients referred to VERC. The role emphasizes staying up to date with evolving medical guidance in the field and working closely with our referring veterinarians to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

Board-certified ophthalmologist or residency-trained in ophthalmology

Motivated, energetic, and able to fit in with a cohesive team

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to a collaborative approach to medicine

Compensation & Benefits We offer a highly competitive compensation package, a signing bonus, relocation allowance, and tailored relocation assistance to the island, including assistance from a local real estate agent. A biannual travel stipend to visit family/friends on the mainland, short-term housing during home search, and additional support for relocation are also provided. An interview visit with travel expenses paid is part of the process to tour our hospital and meet the team.

Compensation Details Base compensation for this position falls between $200K and $230K, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation packages may include sign-on and relocation bonuses.
