Overview
Job Title: Senior Network Engineer - DWDM
Location: Seattle, WA (5 days on site)
Pay: $75-$85/hr on W2 (DOE)
Contract: W2; 9 months
Daily Schedule: Mon-Fri 9-5
Estimated Start Date: ASAP
Client: Fortune 50 Company
Primary responsibilities
Design, build and rollout our global DWDM networks
Drive scaling designs to meet the demand of our customers
Create processes that help operate and build our optical network
Work closely with other Networking teams
Evaluate new products and drive commercial tender process
Ensure that the optical network adheres to the defined network standards
Review and implement changes on the optical systems
Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our DWDM network quality and reliability
Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions day to day on our network
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field or equivalent experience to a Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 7+ years industry experience
Experience with optical planning, modelling tools and rollout of large DWDM networks
Expertise IP networking fundamentals and IP protocols
In-depth knowledge of and experience with major DWDM platforms (Ciena, Infinera and Cisco)
In-depth knowledge of and experience with major router platforms (Cisco and Juniper) including compatible supervisory and line cards for these platforms
In-depth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically BGP and OSPF
Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
Candidates should also have had significant past experience with, and expertise in many of the following protocols & technologies: DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3, OC48), 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP
