Overview The Pharmacy Director is responsible for overseeing the daily business operation of all functional areas of the pharmacy, including logistics and inventory, in addition to working collaboratively with the sales team. The Pharmacy Director is responsible for working with regional and corporate leadership to develop and execute a strategic operational plan to achieve the business objectives for the marketplace.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm with on call

Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall operational performance of the assigned Amerita pharmacy

Establishes and maintains Amerita Customer Experience standards of care to provide high-quality patient care and excellent service, while maintaining safe, cost-effective practices including labor management and timely deliveries

Optimizes staff productivity, including managing production and performance, setting staff schedules appropriate for business volume and activity trends, and identifying areas of growth and development

Hires, coaches, evaluates, and disciplines branch staff. Sets performance expectations

Works closely with the “Vertical Directors” to review, monitor, and provide performance feedback for those staff members reporting within a “Vertical”

Directs pharmacy operations and ensures compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures, federal and state laws and regulations, regulatory requirements, and accreditation agency standards

Participates in branch department and inter-departmental meetings as needed

Directs, coordinates, and supports preparation for pharmacy accreditation and continued compliance

Works with warehouse and distribution staff to ensure supply inventories, scheduling of deliveries, pick-ups and customer satisfaction is in line with company goals

Monitors branch performance through daily controls, audits, surveys, and customer feedback

Overall responsibility of the pharmacy facility to ensure safety, working conditions, and compliance with state and federal regulations

Oversees inventory to ensure the safe storage of prescription drugs and controlled substances, per company policy and procedures

Monitors customer satisfaction trends to identify areas for improvement, and resolves client grievances in collaboration with Vertical Directors, Nursing, and Corporate Support Staff

Coordinates Pharmacy in-service programs, ensures ongoing communication among care staff members, interprets nursing component of care plan, communicates technology updates to appropriate staff members, and develops local pharmacy objectives

Ensures adherence to standard policies and procedures for drug and supply procurement, storage, and dispensation

Performs the duties of a pharmacist as needed

Provides consultation to and answers inquiries from patients, families, and physicians regarding medications and their usage and assists physicians and nursing staff in the development of therapeutic drug plans for patients

Monitors customer satisfaction trends to identify areas for improvement, and resolves client grievances in collaboration with Vertical Directors, Nursing, and Corporate Support Staff

Directs preparation, compounding, and dispensing of all prescriptions and coordinates equipment and product recalls according to written procedures

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D required

Accuracy in mathematical calculations, including pharmacokinetic dosing

Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience in a hospital or home health care setting required

An active licensed pharmacist in the state in which the pharmacy is located

Broad knowledge of home infusion, and pharmacy regulations and administration required

Excellent organization and communications skills

Licensed and in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice

Flexible schedule with the ability to work on-call evenings and weekends on an as-scheduled basis

Current valid driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance

Knowledge of home infusion pharmacy and regulations

Mathematical calculations and pharmacokinetic dosing

Knowledge of USP 797 regulations and clean room operations
