Team Description Consumer Identity ML is the data science and machine learning team within Capital One’s AI foundation organization. We deliver real-time, personalized, intelligent customer experiences in Capital One’s digital products (website, mobile app, emails, chatbot, and more). We partner with product and engineering to build data and modeling platforms that enable deep customer understanding and delight in adapting to customer needs. As part of Consumer ML, you will: Explore billions of clickstream events to discover patterns in customer behavior and model key customer outcomes Develop real-time models that use vast amounts of data to anticipate needs and present the right options at the right time Develop models to ensure important customer data quality, fight fraud and other bad behavior, while enabling seamless digital experiences across products Role Description In Consumer Identity ML, you will work at all phases of the data science life cycle, including: Build machine learning models through all development phases, from design to training, evaluation, and validation; partner with engineering to improve operationalization in scalable, resilient production systems serving 50+ million customers Collaborate with business and product teams across Capital One to conduct experiments guiding improvements to customer experiences and business outcomes in domains like marketing, servicing, and fraud prevention Write software (e.g., Python) to collect, explore, visualize, and analyze numerical and textual data (billions of transactions, clicks, payments) using tools like Spark The Ideal Candidate is: Innovative: you research and apply emerging technologies and stay current with state-of-the-art methods Creative: you tackle big, undefined problems and share new ideas Technical: you have hands-on experience with open-source tools and cloud computing Statistically-minded: you have model-building and validation experience and familiarity with evaluation metrics and methods (e.g., ROC, confusion matrix) A data guru: you can retrieve, combine, and analyze data from diverse sources and understand that data understanding is key to great data science Basic Qualifications: Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, one of the following with the expectation to obtain by the start date: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus 2 years of data analytics experience Master’s degree in a quantitative field or MBA with a quantitative concentration Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in STEM plus 3 years of data analytics, or PhD in STEM At least 1 year of experience with AWS At least 2 years’ experience in Python, PyTorch, Scala, or R At least 2 years’ experience with machine learning At least 2 years’ experience with SQL At least 2 years’ experience with natural language processing Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. McLean, VA: $133,000 - $151,800; New York, NY: $145,100 - $165,600; San Jose, CA: $145,100 - $165,600. Other locations will use the local pay range. This role is eligible for performance-based incentives. Capital One offers a comprehensive benefits package. Eligibility varies by status and level.
