We are seeking a Solution Architect with strong Data Engineering expertise to lead solution design and delivery for the Freddie Mac Multifamily division. This role requires a blend of architecture leadership, hands-on engineering knowledge, and strong client engagement skills. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the mortgage industry and experience guiding teams across modern data and backend technology stacks. Key Responsibilities
Lead solution architecture design across data engineering and backend systems for the Multifamily division. Partner with business stakeholders and technology leaders to translate requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. Provide technical leadership and guidance to delivery PODs, ensuring alignment with architectural standards. Define and implement data pipelines and integration strategies using Python, PySpark, and AWS data services. Drive architectural decisions across Java / Spring Boot microservices, PostgreSQL / MongoDB databases, and cloud-native solutions. Oversee cloud adoption strategies leveraging AWS for scalability and resilience. Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, and performance requirements for mortgage applications. Collaborate with delivery leads to ensure timely, high-quality execution of architecture roadmaps. Mentor engineering teams and promote best practices in solution design, DevOps, and Agile delivery. Act as a trusted advisor to Freddie Mac stakeholders, influencing technical direction. Qualifications & Skills
Required Skills 12+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years in solution architecture. Strong background in the mortgage or financial services industry. Expertise in: Backend - Java, Spring Boot, Microservices architecture; Data Engineering - Python, PySpark, Data pipelines, ETL frameworks; Databases - PostgreSQL, MongoDB; Cloud - AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, RDS, Redshift, etc.). Proven client management and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong experience in leading technical teams and providing architectural oversight. Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive-level discussions. Preferred Skills Knowledge of event-driven architecture, Kafka, or messaging systems. Familiarity with DevOps, CI / CD, containerization (Docker / Kubernetes). Experience in data governance, data quality, and metadata management. Prior consulting or architecture leadership roles in enterprise-scale programs. Benefits
