Software Development Manager - Embedded FW, Chip HAL at Annapurna Labs, an Amazon company, lead our Chip HAL team responsible for building the next generation of networking products. Drive the development of critical hardware abstraction layers and boot firmware that power AWS infrastructure. Lead a team focused on pre-silicon development activities, creating foundational firmware components including: Hardware abstraction layers for CPU interfaces and system interconnects Ethernet link management DDR driver development and memory initialization PCIe subsystem drivers Bootrom and secure boot flow implementation As part of your role, you will lead a team of embedded software engineers working on code that forms the foundation of AWS’s infrastructure. The team’s code enables the basic functionality of our custom silicon, running on millions of servers worldwide. You will work in a dynamic, open, fast-paced environment, collaborating with multiple disciplines across hardware, firmware, and software teams globally. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of fundamental technology that enables AWS’s cloud infrastructure at unprecedented scale. Utility Computing (UC) - AWS Utility Computing provides product innovations—from foundational services such as Amazon S3 and EC2, to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree 6+ years of engineering team management experience 7+ years of engineering experience 6+ years of experience with C programming Preferred Qualifications Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers Experience leading pre-silicon development activities and hardware bring-up Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
