Responsibilities

Lead and manage comprehensive rail vehicle overhaul projects and programs from inception to completion, ensuring objectives are met on time, within scope, and within budget. Provide strategic leadership with extensive experience in rail systems, project management, and team coordination. Develop detailed project plans, manage resources, oversee subcontractors, ensure safety and quality compliance, and maintain effective stakeholder communication. Assure compliance and interact with federal, state, and local government agencies, particularly FRA, FTA, and UDOT. Prepare and participate in updating FTA‑required Fleet Management Plans, Rail Procurement Plans, NTD reports, Overhaul program plans, TAM Plan, short/long-term capital plans, and UTA’s long‑range vehicle Transit Development Plan. Qualifications

Ten years of progressively responsible experience in the design and preparation of specifications for rolling stock vehicles, inspection of manufacture, supervision of maintenance and overhaul, testing and commissioning, and/or procurement of such vehicles. Five years of experience leading or coordinating a project team. Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or other applicable 4‑year engineering‑related field. Knowledge of rail rolling stock systems (Light Rail and Commuter Rail), and related electronics, electrical, and mechanical systems theory and design for rolling stock and railway systems. Familiarity with industry procedures/practices, standards, regulations, and recommended practices; procurement policies and procedures; engineering, operation, and maintenance policies. Proficiency with high‑tech test and measurement equipment, computer diagnostic interfaces for rolling stock systems, document control systems, configuration management, and office automation tools. Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced team environment or independently. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
