Overview
The Director of Tax plays a vital role by directing and overseeing the Company’s tax policies and objectives. This role is responsible for overseeing the tax for Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA, Inc. (BUS) and the subsidiary companies. The Director of Tax ensures accuracy and timely filing of all of the Company’s tax obligations. The Company’s tax obligations include both direct, indirect, Telcom regulatory fees and business licenses. This position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to communicate to senior management and the ability to work with different teams within the Company from sales, administration and finance for example. This person will have the ability to create strategies and objectives for the department as well as develop budgets, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Responsible for overseeing the tax for Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA, Inc. (BUS) and the subsidiary companies
Develop and implement strategies and objectives for the department as well as develop budgets, policies and procedures across the entire tax department
Provide strategic guidance on tax planning, ensuring alignment with business objectives, while minimizing tax risk and overall tax liabilities.
Ensure accuracy and timely filing of all of the Company’s tax obligation - both direct, indirect, Telcom regulatory fees and business licenses
Prepare consolidated federal and state income tax provisions along with the required analysis for inter-company transaction eliminations and collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tax accounting, including the provision for income taxes, deferred taxes, and tax-related financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Oversee timely and accurate preparation and filing of all federal, state and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations for both Direct & Indirect tax
Represent the Company during tax audits, coordinate responses to inquiries and resolve disputes for both Direct & Indirect tax
Identify tax-saving opportunities, such as credits, deductions and incentives
Liaise with external advisors, auditors and government agencies to ensure effective collaboration and compliance on tax related matters.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax related discipline, Masters in Tax or comparable advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of progressive tax experience.
Experience in managing a team
Experience in compliance, controversy resolution, financial reporting under IFRS, transfer pricing, and SOX controls.
Strong knowledge of ASC740; FIN48 (UTP); and IAS12 is highly desirable.
Exceptional knowledge of tax laws, regulations and reporting requirements related to direct and indirect taxes as well as Telcom regulatory fees and reporting.
Strong technical tax expertise
Ability to effectively communicate with executive management and work across all levels and teams within the company
Proven experience in managing tax audits and effectively resolving tax disputes.
Working knowledge of OneSource Suite of tax compliance tools and Microsoft M365.
Solid experience with CCH research tools. Knowledge of Abandoned Unclaimed Property rules and reporting requirements.
Experience with SAP systems S/4 and ECC.
Experience with Avalara AvaTax
People manager experience – will lead approximately 10 FTE
