Location: University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Anesthesiology Department, UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson
Position: Full-Time. Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Non-Exempt Hourly Rates
Responsibilities
Administer anesthesia and related care, including pre-anesthetic preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support.
Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines.
Assist with the teaching and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs.
Perform according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Review appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site with operating room staff and surgeon in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards.
Participate in the Quality Improvement (QI) process through documentation, incident reporting, evaluation, education, and implementation.
Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program required. Knowledgeable regarding controlled substance policies in accordance with Federal and State laws required. Master’s degree preferred. This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required. Board Certified, Recertified or eligible by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. AHA-approved ACLS/PALS certifications as required by institution of employ upon hire. Act 33, 34, and 73 clearances required.

Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state
