Position Summary

The Vice President, Media Planning & Strategy serves as a senior leader within the media department, responsible for shaping the agency’s strategic vision across clients, teams, and disciplines. This role drives innovation in media strategy, ensures excellence in client delivery, and champions integration across creative, data, and media channels. As a trusted advisor to clients and agency leadership, the VP sets the standard for media thought leadership, operational excellence, and strategic innovation. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, inspiring innovative approaches to media planning, and influencing senior-level client relationships. The VP will oversee multiple Director-level leads, foster collaboration and ensure strategic consistency across all accounts while identifying opportunities for agency growth. Duties & Responsibilities

Executive Leadership & Vision

Define and drive the strategic direction of the media planning & strategy practice. Serve as a senior advisor to C-suite clients and agency leadership, providing market perspective, innovation, and foresight. Represent the agency in industry forums, thought leadership initiatives, and new business pitches. Team & Talent Development

Lead and mentor Director- and Manager-level media strategists, cultivating a culture of growth, collaboration, and accountability. Establish training programs, performance goals, and development opportunities to strengthen team expertise. Client Leadership

Oversee strategic planning across a portfolio of clients, ensuring excellence in delivery and measurable business outcomes. Act as the senior escalation point for client relationships, navigating complex challenges and opportunities. Translate client objectives into holistic media strategies that integrate across traditional, digital, and emerging channels. Innovation & Integration

Champion the integration of media with creative, data science, and performance analytics to create breakout campaigns. Stay at the forefront of media innovation, identifying opportunities in emerging platforms, measurement methodologies, and technology. Drive a culture of testing, learning, and applying insights to advance media effectiveness. Operational & Fiscal Accountability

Partner with finance and operations leadership to ensure fiscal discipline, budget stewardship, and profitability across accounts. Standardize planning processes and tools to ensure consistency and efficiency across the department. Qualifications

12+ years of progressive experience in integrated media planning and strategy, with significant leadership responsibility. Proven ability to lead teams and develop senior-level talent across multiple disciplines. Track record of managing enterprise-level clients and delivering measurable impact. Expertise in integrated channel planning across digital, traditional, and emerging platforms. Strong business acumen with the ability to partner with finance, operations, and executive leadership to drive agency growth. Recognized thought leader with comfort presenting to executive stakeholders and industry audiences. Advanced knowledge of media fundamentals, planning tools (MRI/Simmons, Nielsen, MMM, MTA, etc.), and emerging technologies.
