Join our growing Global Asset Management (GAM) team at RBC!
We are seeking an Institutional Portfolio Analyst who will be focused on equities. Reporting through the RBC GAM US Distribution channel but working in close proximity to the equity investment teams, this role will initially be internally focused supporting the senior equity Institutional Portfolio Managers (IPMs), with potential to grow into an external client-facing investment specialist role over time. The successful candidate will support positioning our equity capabilities with institutional investors and support our Distribution teams for engagement with clients, consultants and prospects. They will support the investment team to leverage key messaging into the institutional sales and client solutions teams, collaborating with colleagues on similar roles in other teams and regions. What will you do?
Develop an extensive understanding of the equities asset class including current views of the investment team, performance, positioning changes and underlying portfolio trends. This should be enabled by close interaction with the investment teams and broad participation in daily activities. Work with the Production team to develop and maintain high quality presentation material for client and prospect meetings with timely updates on market events, portfolio strategy and performance. Support the senior equity IPMs in responding to RFPs by developing high quality responses and providing input into solution design and pricing. Write high quality monthly and quarterly equity commentaries and contribute to other ad hoc thought leadership pieces with the Investment and Marketing teams. Contribute to ongoing training sessions for the Distribution team on our suite of equity strategies including team structure, investment philosophy and process, peer-relative performance and differentiating features of our team and strategy. Support IPMs and client-facing teams in preparing for client, consultant and prospect meetings to reduce or eliminate the need for direct support from the investment management team; coordinate with other IPMs to build efficiencies. Collaborate with Marketing to inform activities that increase market recognition for the capability and lead portfolio managers, including conferences, events and webinars. Work with the Product team to maintain timely information on competing organizations and strategies, as well as investor trends that impact activities and potential product requirements. Act as a conduit of knowledge between investment desks and distribution/client-facing teams; serve as the primary contact for responding to client and prospect queries for market and portfolio level data on equity strategies. Collaborate with Sales Analysts in preparation for portfolio manager road shows and in ongoing monitoring of meeting activity and pipeline reporting. Contribute to internal projects to increase effectiveness, efficiencies and consistency of client service. What do you need to succeed?

Bachelor’s degree with at least 1–3 years of institutional investment experience Good understanding of the investment management industry and the equity asset class Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn proprietary in-house systems CFA / CAIA designations or a willingness to work towards strongly preferred Strong investment writing skills; ability to summarize and simplify complex concepts (e.g., performance attribution) for a client-friendly presentation Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle pressure and multiple deadlines from different stakeholders Effective problem-solver with strong analytical and resolution skills Critical thinking to identify and improve process inefficiencies A collaborative team player with a proactive and forward-thinking attitude Ability to thrive in a fast-paced office environment Willingness to travel to other RBC GAM offices as required What’s in it for you?
