Overview
NOTE: Adult volunteers only. (NO MINORS) Dreams for Change oversees the City of San Diego's safe sleep site which provides shelter and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Volunteers are needed to help the Dreams for Change staff set up, serve, and clean up meals for participants at the safe sleep site. This will free up staff to work with participants, providing support services, while volunteers serve meals. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
Key Responsibilities: Set up for event Serve meals Clean up afterwards Skills & Qualifications: No prior experience needed Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Able to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for prolonged periods Must not have food allergies due to proximity to various food items Volunteers must be adults (no minors allowed) Training Provided: On-site training provided at the beginning of the shift Attire:
Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade. Volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat Bring:
Water bottle Physical Requirements:
Prolonged standing, lifting of 20 lbs, and no food allergies. The opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible Weather:

Clearing a Megan's Law California Sex Offender search before your first shift is required to participate in this opportunity. You must download the HandsOn Connect app to your smart device to electronically sign the waiver and check in at this volunteer opportunity.
