Overview Medical Director of Pediatric Advanced Heart Therapies at The Congenital Heart Center, Levine Children’s Hospital (Atrium Health). Leadership opportunity for an experienced pediatric heart failure and transplant cardiologist to lead a growing program and faculty at a premier children’s hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Lead the strategic vision of the program, participate in clinical research and national committees. The Congenital Heart Center is active in the Pediatric Heart Transplant Society and ACTION. The Pediatric Advanced Therapies Program includes two MDs, two APPs, three VAD/transplant RN coordinators, a dietitian and a social worker. The Center comprises 17 cardiologists, three congenital heart surgeons, eight cardiac intensivists, three pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, two pediatric cardiac radiologists, 20 APPs (including three surgical APPs), 16 sonographers, five nurse navigators and nine RNs. Services include advanced cardiac imaging, ICU care, regional referrals in heart failure/transplantation, catheterization, electrophysiology, adult congenital heart disease and fetal echocardiography. The program has grown to be the largest transplant center in the region for the past five years and includes a state-of-the-art two-lab catheterization and electrophysiology suite. A new outpatient office complex opened in December 2020, designed to treat patients from fetal cardiology to ACHD. Levine Children’s also offers a comprehensive Cardiac Neurodevelopment program and ongoing investigator-initiated and multi-center studies.

Responsibilities

Lead and advance the strategic vision of the Pediatric Advanced Therapies Program and Congenital Heart Center.

Engage in clinical care, program development, safety and quality, and administration.

Participate in clinical research and national committees; contribute to pediatric heart transplant programs per OTPN qualifications.

Act as primary pediatric heart transplant physician as delineated by OTPN; rotate on Heart Transplant/Heart Failure inpatient and outpatient services.

Qualifications

ACGME-accredited fellowship in pediatric cardiology and board-certified/board-eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Forth-year additional training in pediatric heart failure and transplant, or a minimum of five years transplant experience.

Clinical expertise with mechanical circulatory support devices.
