The Executive Director plays a key role in guiding strategic planning, business development, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and financial health. This leader also supports leadership development and succession planning within the service line team. Responsibilities include overseeing business development and financial performance for assigned service lines, and leading strategic growth plans focused on market share expansion, facilities planning, and integration across inpatient and outpatient settings. Essential Functions:
Growth – Market Share & Financial Performance
Develop and implement multi-year strategic and business plans to grow service line volume, market share, and contribution margin, aligned with health system priorities. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including service expansion and physician recruitment strategies. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovations in care delivery. Collaborate with marketing teams to enhance service line visibility and patient engagement. Lead physician outreach efforts to build trust and strengthen provider relationships. Partner with revenue management and health plan teams to optimize reimbursement and financial performance. Lead budget development and monitor key performance indicators such as volume, revenue, and costs. Quality – Improving Service and Operations
Work with medical directors and quality teams to define clinical goals, quality benchmarks, and patient experience improvements. Develop and monitor medical director goals and integrate them into service line activities. Utilize data analytics to monitor performance and drive improvements. Support accreditation and compliance efforts. Lead root cause analyses and quality initiatives. Ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards. Program Integration and Operations
Lead integration of service components across hospital campuses and outpatient sites. Oversee medical directorships and align physician agreements with service line goals. Build relationships with physicians and managers to promote growth and reputation. Facilitate service line governance and initiatives. Collaborate to optimize resources and care delivery models. Fund Development
Work with the Foundation to identify philanthropic opportunities supporting service line growth and innovation. Assist in creating support cases and engaging donors as needed. Qualifications
Master’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration required. At least 8 years of healthcare leadership experience, including 3 years leading a major service line. Strong facilitative leadership, collaboration, and relationship-building skills. Expertise in financial analysis, strategic planning, and business development. Ability to analyze market trends, operational data, and financial metrics. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, especially with physicians. Experience in high-performing service lines like Neurosciences, Orthopedics, or Spine is preferred. Additional Information
Salary Range: $95.92 - $143.88 per hour The physical requirements include mostly sedentary work, with occasional lifting up to 10 lbs., and use of hands and fingers.
