This role is with HDR's Building Engineering Services Business Group in Chicago, IL, focusing on site civil design for the Data Center market, with future opportunities in Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, and Sports & Recreation sectors. The project work spans planning, development of construction documents, and construction administration within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in land development and the design of building-related site civil functions (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with initiative to deliver high-quality, technically sound designs. Responsibilities

Design and produce plan sets, details, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and related civil engineering activities Perform site development calculations (stormwater pond sizing, culvert and pipe capacity analysis, hydrology calculations, etc.) Serve as Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed; act as Engineer of Record on non-complex projects Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed Author technically sound, well-organized reports Contribute to civil engineering scope of work and budgets for proposals Coordinate with internal and external resources to complete due diligence research and documentation Understand and meet Jurisdictional requirements; coordinate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction for design and submittal requirements Transition concept plans through schematic and construction design processes Coordinate with subconsultants for support and design services Attend and contribute to client meetings Use engineering judgment to determine best course of action; be independent in pursuing information and solutions Manage time and organization of multiple tasks/projects Communicate effectively with managers and team members Pursue efficiencies within work and operations Mentor junior staff and delegate appropriate tasks Be an advocate for HDR, the BES Business Group, and the Site Civil team Perform other tasks that support HDR and the BES Business Group Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree Previous experience in general civil engineering Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license recognized by the licensing board for the position location Demonstrated leadership and communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office; good verbal and written communication skills Commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years of experience in general civil engineering Proficient with CAD civil software such as Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D; familiarity with OpenFlows or similar platforms as required What We Believe and Our Commitment

The compensation range for this role depends on skills, experience, education, and location. For full-time regular positions, pay is shown as $82,390.00 – $117,700.00; temporary and part-time roles are eligible for limited benefits.
