Design and develop CarGurus’ next-generation data and instrumentation platforms across various projects and products. Align data strategy with organizational goals to enable advanced business intelligence and analytics capabilities. Design complex data structures and algorithms to support machine learning and data analytics. Deploy code and use data to power CarGurus products and drive business decisions. Deliver software and analytics to consumers and dealers worldwide. Collaborate with both data-producing and data-consuming teams. Ensure prioritization of products aligns with high-level strategies and business objectives. Architect and design processes, systems, tools, and capabilities required to produce and maintain core data assets in a highly iterative environment. Review and manage the architecture of enterprise and client-facing data management strategies to collect, store, and increase usability and quality of data from multiple sources. Review the architecture of site instrumentation and tracking platforms to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. Apply knowledge of new technologies and trends to improve CarGurus’ data capabilities and identify opportunities and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data governance frameworks (ownership, classification, lineage). Collaborate with product management to ensure data architecture principles guide product development and expand data-as-a-product capabilities. Communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor on data-related matters. Telecommuting available 2 days per week; must be available to report into the Boston, MA office. Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation, including: Site instrumentation, user journey tracking, site-tracking, and clickstream logging systems. Building and managing large-scale tracking platforms. Architecting and designing large scalable systems. Data infrastructure, systems, and tools including Snowflake, Snowplow, DBT, Fivetran, or Looker. End-to-end data solutions including data collection/storage, data modeling, and data consumption. Leading and participating in data architecture strategy and roadmap engagements. AWS and Data DevOps engineering using CI/CD tools. Working at CarGurus
