Mission or Goal of Unit:
The Division of Vascular Neurology provides the highest level of evidence-based care, offering state-of-the-art treatment for patients with cerebrovascular disorders of all levels of complexity. Fellowship-trained vascular neurologists provide acute stroke care, routinely assessing patients for intravenous thrombolysis and/or endovascular interventions. Our faculty members collaborate with physicians from the Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery and Surgery to provide the most comprehensive, evidence-based stroke care available.
Chief Purpose of this position:
The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time member to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises in the Division of Vascular Neurology. This position will be provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Candidates with appropriate training and experience may be asked to provide endovascular stroke care. Teaching The faculty member will be expected to teach medical students, neurology residents (and those from other Departments), and vascular neurology fellows. Research The Division of Vascular Neurology is engaged in clinical and translational research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical and/or translational research projects and clinical trials. Service Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
Required Qualifications: BC/BE in Neurology Fellowship training Vascular Neurology Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
