Senior R&D Cosmetic Formulation Chemist, with enough confidence to Mentor and enough humility to be mentored, is responsible for managing all internal formulation activities, including new formula development, re-formulations, and troubleshooting for both OTC drug and cosmetic Skin and Hair Care products. The role includes line management of a team of formulation chemists as well as the day-to-day management in the labs.
The Senior R&D Chemist Job Responsibilities:
Preparing new product formulas (OTC and non-OTC) as well as working to continuously improve current formula. Perform all testing requirements on new formulas and follow established testing SOPs and meticulously Responsible for the development and execution of technical formulation strategies based on formulation briefs provided by the Product Development Team. Conduct benchmark testing on competitive products and provide analysis to supporting teams. Communicate all information regarding formulation, project status, costing and results to all appropriate individuals in a timely fashion. Document test results, specifications, and procedures in a standard professional format for Product design files. Present Proof of Concepts at key decision points in the process from transfer from prototype/pilot scale to full-up production including stability batch and the corresponding follow up and monitor as for the stability batches. Explore new technologies and materials, which may have application for company\'s product lines. Develop and Maintain Supplier relationships. Write and review procedures, protocols and specifications needed to support product development activities. Keep abreast of current trends, practices, developments, and regulatory changes within the industry. Ensure the maintenance and adherence to good laboratory practices. Be a difference maker by contributing innovative ideas, expertise, knowledge, high professional standards, team spirit and pride in the company. Provide and maintain contemporareous documentation on new product development projects. Job Requirements:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry and/or Biochemistry, or related science field. At least 10 years of experience as an R&D Chemist in the personal care industry. Superior knowledge raw materials and of cosmetic manufacturing Superior knowledge of ingredient deck listing and labeling requirements Capable of trouble-shooting formula and process issues Ability to work independently, and collaboratively. Enough confidence to Mentor and enough humility to be mentored. Strong written and oral communication skills. Computer Skills.
