Overview

As a coach at Veritas Prep, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a thriving sports program, contributing to the development of student-athletes through knowledge, skill enhancement, teamwork, leadership, and social and emotional growth. You’ll also: Support student-athletes in cultivating positive attitudes while emphasizing fair play, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. Gain comprehensive knowledge of all athletic policies set forth by Veritas Prep Middle School, including state and league regulations. Attend mandatory public/staff meetings to align with school objectives. Promote discipline and cultivate a cooperative morale within the school sports framework. Prepare thoroughly for scheduled practices and events, ensuring adherence to facility times. Work in collaboration with maintenance and school staff to ensure the proper care of equipment and practice areas. Monitor the academic progress and conduct of student-athletes. Be present at all practices and games, providing guidance and support for participants, especially during travel. Complete and submit documentation for any athletic injuries using the appropriate forms. Enforce discipline with a clear understanding of due process, ensuring fair treatment for all athletes. Track equipment usage and returns, submitting annual inventories. Accurately report team records to the Athletic Director, including awards and scores from all competitions. Arrive early for practices and events to facilitate familiarization and stay after to assist players and engage in discussions with staff. Execute both in-season and out-of-season conditioning programs, evaluated for effectiveness. Carry out other related duties that align with the nature of this position as requested by the Principal/Athletic Director. What You’ll Need

Previous coaching experience in basketball is preferred. Solid knowledge and understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategies. An unwavering belief in the potential for all students to achieve great things. A commitment to confronting racism in education and life, with a solid understanding of the history of race and systemic oppression. Current authorization to work in the United States; candidates must have this authorization by their first employment day. Compensation
