Director, AVS Reimbursement Strategy & Health Economics

The role focuses on reimbursement strategy and health economics for GE HealthCare’s global Advanced Visualization Solutions (AVS) business, including ultrasound, c-arms, and AI-driven diagnostic and workflow tools across clinical care areas.
Key Responsibilities
Reimbursement Strategy Development And Implementation
Lead the analysis, development and execution of reimbursement strategies for new and existing imaging technologies, balancing investment needs with business goals and expected returns.
Continuously analyze reimbursement pathways and strategies for AI-enabled and advanced imaging technologies to identify gaps or opportunities for CPT code development or coverage policies.
Assess reimbursement needs for technologies under development (e.g., robotics/remote capabilities; ultrasound as therapy; cardiology pathway innovations; ASC/OBL settings).
Support AVS Business Development & Strategy teams in evaluating inorganic growth opportunities by assessing existing coverage and payment landscapes and time/cost to market.
Collaborate with the U.S. region reimbursement leader to monitor and influence CMS policies relevant to AVS technology.
Engage with payers, providers, clinical thought leaders, and professional societies to support coverage and payment decisions, in collaboration with Clinical Research leaders and the AVS Chief Medical Officer.
Assess requirements for tactical reimbursement support for providers using products with Category III codes, and provide guidance to the U.S. region on these activities.
Collaborate with Clinical Research and HEOR leads on clinical and economic evidence development priorities to support coding, coverage and payment for market access of new and emerging technologies.
Scope and manage third-party reimbursement strategy research and advisory engagements.
Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR)
Scope and manage HEOR projects across AVS segments to demonstrate the value of AVS solutions.
Evidence Planning: partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop plans for evidence generation and value communication, focusing on operational and financial outcomes of interest to payers and providers.
Evidence Generation: design and execute HEOR studies (literature reviews, modelling, outcomes studies), identify/manage external contractors, and occasionally conduct in-house studies.
Value Communication: translate study results for internal and external audiences and collaborate with marketing to support sales tools and collaterals.
Stakeholder Management
Partner with regulatory affairs, government affairs & policy, legal, clinical research, marketing, product management, and business development to align reimbursement strategies with business goals.
Support AVS senior leadership in identifying opportunities for reimbursement strategy implementation and provide subject-matter expertise to set expectations.
Provide training on reimbursement and HEOR topics to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with regional government affairs & policy on AVS-related advocacy efforts.
Represent the company in industry forums and working groups related to reimbursement.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Health Economics, Public Health, Health Policy, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in U.S. reimbursement strategy (public and private payers) in the medical device or diagnostics industry.
Proven track record of success developing and implementing reimbursement strategy in healthcare.
Experience in leading or assisting on HEOR projects in the medical device or diagnostics industry.
Proven ability to communicate complex economic and policy concepts to diverse audiences.
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills
Master’s in Health Economics, Public Health, Health Policy, or related field.
Expertise with coding systems (CPT, HCPCS, DRG, ICD-10) and coverage determination processes; however, certified coder credentials are not required.
Proven track record of success developing and implementing reimbursement strategy for diagnostic imaging technologies.
Experience leading or assisting on research projects using real-world data to support coverage initiatives.
Working knowledge of core Western Europe (Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain), Japan and China reimbursement / HTA systems.
