About the Program
The UNC School of Medicine proudly announces a two-year UNC Rural Obstetrics & Gynecology Fellowship, the first of its kind in the nation, training physician leaders to deliver exceptional women's health care in rural maternal health.
Fellowship Highlights
50% Clinical Practice: Provide comprehensive, full-scope OB/GYN practice under the guidance of skilled clinical partners at a single fellowship site at UNC Health Rockingham in Eden or UNCHealth Lenoir in Kinston.
50% Training & Mentorship: Fellows will have an identified primary mentor to help chart a roadmap for their 2 years of career development. Options can include completing a Master-level degree (e.g. MSCR) or tailored coursework in QI/QA, community engagement, leadership, healthcare finances, equity, etc. They will have the ability to join state-wide initiatives to improve maternal health, receive research training to study rural health outcomes, or lead QI/QA projects directly informed by their clinical practice.

UNC Health Complete Care, located in Kinston, NC provides excellent care for women of all ages. OB/GYNs provide maternity care and a full range of gynecologic care, from routine checkups and screenings to minimally invasive surgeries.
Lenoir County is one of eastern North Carolina’s hidden gems — rich in history, culture, and Southern charm. From scenic nature trails and recreational lakes to award-winning restaurants, art galleries, and breweries in downtown Kinston, this area offers a unique blend of small-town hospitality with modern amenities. You will enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with easy access to Raleigh, Greenville, and the beautiful North Carolina coast.

MD/DO with completed OB GYN residency
Eligible for NC Licensure & ABOG oral boards
