Pear VC
Overview
Pear VC
is an early-stage venture firm based in Menlo Park with offices in San Francisco and Barcelona. We’re specialists in pre-seed and seed and partner with founders at the earliest stages to turn great ideas into category-defining companies.
Our team is composed of a deep bench of experts and operators. We’ve founded 10+ companies and seeded startups now worth over $50B. We have a team with operational experience across recruiting, sales, and marketing to help our founders build companies from the ground up. Our track record is strong: in just 9 years, we have seeded 7 companies currently valued over $1B and 3 public companies.
The Opportunity As the 2nd in-house product engineer at Pear, you’ll focus on streamlining our internal operations through software and creating tools to support our founder community. This role offers direct exposure to a diverse range of founders and industries within our portfolio, providing a solid foundation for exploring future opportunities, whether as a founder or within a Pear portfolio company. Additionally, it offers a unique chance to gain insight into the venture capital world, helping you evaluate if it's a path you want to pursue in your career.
Responsibilities
Identify areas for potential automation, through conversation with the Pear investment, and platform teams, and with Pear portfolio founders.
Translate these into concrete product workflows
Build workflows that accomplish the core work, with minimal maintenance overhead.
As a small team, we prefer to buy off-the-shelf software rather than build custom software in-house. The ideal candidate recognizes where and when to best make the tradeoffs between buying vs. automating with low-code platforms vs. entirely building custom code.
Attributes and Skills
Knowledge of Web Frameworks, Databases and APIs
Strong programming skills and experience developing products from 0 to 1
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects with strong attention to detail.
Independent worker with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functionally.
Collaborative team player ready to assist anywhere, anytime.
Qualifications
2-4 years of full-stack development experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
Proven track record of owning and delivering projects from start to finish
Experience working as a "product engineer," blending product and engineering roles
Experience with React and Python
Interest in data science
Previous experience building internal tools to improve operations
What We Offer
100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
401k plan with company match.
Flexible vacation policy.
Fully-stocked kitchen with snacks, beverages, and weekly team lunches.
