Job Summary Westport Properties continues to grow rapidly and we are seeking an Accountant II with a strong background in property management, and has proficient knowledge in GAAP related to real estate accounting and consolidations. The qualified candidate will also have a proven successful track record in an Accountant role handling the day-to-day Accounting functions and responsibilities. This position will support aspects of the financial cycle for 20-30 properties. This position must be able to perform the following duties and manage the following area of responsibilities: Full-cycle accounting for 20-30 properties Monthly review of general ledger including posting accruals and reclassifications, and variance analysis Prepare and compile funding request to the lender, coordinate and follow up funding approval Monitor Escrow Balances Compile monthly/quarterly financial statement package with required supporting documentation Process payable invoices: review, code and acquire proper approvals Maintain capital expenditure and fixed assets schedule Assist in ad hoc analysis and other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum of 3+ years accounting experience, in multi-site accounting, property management/real estate construction preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Yardi highly preferred Knowledge of GAAP related to real estate accounting and consolidations Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Team player and can collaborate with other departments in the organization Ability to deal effectively with co-workers, department supervisors and managers, lenders, and other consultants and/or vendors Ability to work flexible hours depending on various Accounting Property deadlines Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Education / Experience College Degree Required - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent from an accredited college or university Relevant years of work experience and advanced Accounting certification may substitute for the degree requirement Benefits for Full-Time Employees $7,800 contributed annually toward Health Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision Company Paid Life Insurance Coverage – up to $50,000 per employee (Basic Life & AD&D) 401(k) Plan with employer match Generous Paid Time Off offered – earn 3 weeks per year at the start of your hire date Up to 10 Paid Holidays Paid On-going Professional Development & Training Rewards & Recognition (Manager’s Quarterly & Yearly Outstanding Achievement Awards, Core Values Award, Years of Service & Wall of Fame) Company Sponsored Events throughout the Year (Holiday Parties & Gifts, Company Picnic, Team building, etc.) Huge Potential for Career Mentorship, Growth and Advancement Discretionary bonus based on several factors At-Will Employment & Equal Opportunity Employer Westport Properties, Inc. is a parent company of US Storage Centers (USSC) which provides at-will, equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, disability or genetics.
