University of the Fraser Valley – Provost and Vice-President, Academic
ID:
25-1154
Location:
Abbotsford, BC The Provost and Vice-President, Academic ("Provost") is the most senior vice president and plays a pivotal role at UFV, taking responsibility for the development of excellence in teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and service. In addition to the traditional duties associated with the role, the Provost is also responsible for integrated planning and operational coordination to ensure educational and research programs, faculty and staff recruitment, career development, support services, policies, practices, standards, and resource allocations are aligned with the University’s values, vision and prioritized goals. A key aspect of this position is the Provost’s contribution toward establishing UFV as a place of learning that recognizes, respects, supports and includes diversity and Indigenous ways of knowing. The Provost works closely with the President to provide leadership and direction to other members of the University’s senior team, including other Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents, Deans, and Directors. This is an outstanding opportunity for a visionary post-secondary leader to help take a thriving institution to the next level. Although UFV is on sound fiscal footing given the broader Canadian post-secondary context, the Provost must nevertheless balance fiscal responsibility with the need to support key initiatives, including a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and EDI, that will continue to allow UFV to grow and thrive. They should understand that, as a teaching-intensive university with strong commitments to its regional communities, UFV recognizes scholarship in teaching and learning, and promotes applied research initiatives that connect directly with the Fraser Valley.
