Overview
Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner for Technology, SG-NS, the Principal Power Platform Developer (Project Director, SG-NS) will design, develop, and maintain complex software solutions using Microsoft technologies to support the mission of the New York State Department of Health. The incumbent will leverage expertise in C#, Oracle PL/SQL, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), and API development, and will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support to other team members. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy custom Power Apps (canvas and model-driven) to streamline business processes and improve data accessibility. Create and manage Power Automate flows to automate workflows and integrate with other systems. Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for data visualization and analysis. Design and develop RESTful APIs to facilitate integration between systems. Assist with Oracle database design and generation of DDL scripts. Develop and execute system test plans and coded unit testing procedures. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other developers. Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Five+ years of experience in .NET development using C#. Three+ years of experience with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI). Experience with API development (REST, SOAP). Experience with Oracle PL/SQL. Strong understanding of software development best practices. Excellent problem solving and communication skills. The following degrees may substitute for the general experience as indicated: A master’s degree in computer science or a related field will substitute for one year of experience (.NET development using C#, and Microsoft Power Platform). A Doctorate in computer science or related field will substitute for an additional year of experience (.NET development using C#, and Microsoft Power Platform). Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with .NET Core. Experience with cloud computing platforms (Azure preferred). Experience with DevOps practices (CI/CD). Experience with Agile development methodologies. Experience with Dataverse (Common Data Service). Experience with security best practices. Additional Comments
