Overview
We are actively seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to join our clients team and play a critical role in a major technology modernization initiative. This position will focus on updating legacy systems from WCF .NET to a modern, cloud-native stack leveraging .NET Core, Kafka, and Azure. This is a high-impact role for an engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, scaling distributed systems, and driving technical transformation. The pay range for this role will pay between $165,000 per year to 220,000 per year. The candidate must reside in New England, Bay Area or Chicago. There is no sponsorship provided for this role. Key Responsibilities
Lead backend development efforts, modernizing legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native architectures. Design and implement Kafka solutions including producers, consumers, and stream processing. Deploy applications and set up CI/CD pipelines in Azure to streamline development and delivery. Architect and develop backend services with C# and .NET Core. Apply best practices in distributed systems, service design, and software security. Collaborate across teams, mentor developers, and influence technical direction. Contribute to containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent with degree substitution). 7+ years of backend-focused development. Deep expertise in C# and .NET Core. Proven Kafka experience (designing, implementing, scaling producers/consumers). Strong Azure experience, including DevOps pipeline setup and deployments. Background in distributed systems, scalable architecture, and service design. Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployments. Skilled in Git, test-driven development, and modern software security practices. Excellent communication skills with proven ability to lead technical initiatives.
Nice-to-Have Skills
CI/CD with GitHub Actions. UI frameworks such as Angular, React, or Blazor. Familiarity with GraphQL or emerging frameworks (e.g., generative AI). Exposure to Python or similar languages.
