Overview
Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking a
Technology Integration Specialist (TIS)
to support the effective use of technology in K-12 instruction. The TIS will design and deliver professional learning, coach staff, and model instructional technology strategies that align with the ACPS Technology Plan and Strategic Plan. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, a deep understanding of pedagogy and instructional technology, and the ability to collaborate with school leaders and central office teams. This role reports to the Director of Instructional Technology and plays a critical part in helping ACPS educators use technology in ways that enhance teaching, learning, and student success. This position is in the Central Office Technology Services department and reports to a school location each day. This is a 206 day (11-month) position. Qualifications
Education : Bachelor\'s degree; Master\'s degree preferred. Certificates & Licenses : Valid Virginia Department of Education license required, or eligibility to obtain one. Endorsement in Technology Education preferred. Experience : Experience supporting teachers in integrating technology, including emerging tools, into instruction; experience designing and leading professional learning for adult learners; experience working in K-12 schools and building strong, collaborative relationships with staff and administrators; at least 3 years of experience teaching in a K-12 classroom. Builds positive, trusting relationships with teachers and school staff to support professional growth in technology integration. Designs, delivers, and evaluates professional learning that equips teachers with practical strategies for using technology and AI tools in instruction. Coaches and mentors staff through co-teaching, lesson modeling, and ongoing feedback to strengthen instructional practices. Supports educators in embedding digital citizenship and data privacy practices into teaching and learning. Collaborates with principals, curriculum specialists, and instructional coaches to identify, implement, and evaluate effective technology use. Contributes to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the ACPS Technology Plan, ensuring staff development efforts align with division goals. Coordinates and facilitates division-wide professional learning initiatives, including the Teacher Leadership Project, Literacy and Technology programs, and new teacher support. Participates in the selection, review, and rollout of instructional software and digital resources, ensuring alignment with instructional needs and data privacy standards. Serves as a resource in schools by participating in team, content, faculty, and leadership meetings. Collaborates with colleagues across the Department of Technology Services and other ACPS departments to promote consistent and effective technology use. Provides input for reports and evaluations on the status of instructional technology, and professional learning. Performs other duties, as assigned, to support the division. Salary
